what did The Muse Project do in 2020 & 2021?
A Simple Herstory.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Muse launched and is developing a podcast series called A Simple Herstory about all the women who have run for President of the United States. Over a hundred women have made a run for it, but their stories are rarely heard. This podcast series features the lives of the women who aggressively, voraciously, and passionately sought to assume the highest office in the land - and lost. Part experimental radio play, it features an all woman cast, centering their voices, literally and metaphorically. Initiated by Producing AD and performer, Jocelyn Kuritsky, it functions as a kind of über Muse project for challenging theatrical times, with the voice of actress Florencia Lozano at the helm of the storytelling for Season 1, alongside a team of collaborators including Donya K. Washington (director), Jonathan A. Goldberg (writer), Jane Shaw (technical director & sound designer), and Jenny Turner Hall (executive producer).
what did The Muse Project do in 2019?
Tea Time @ Torn Page.
Tea Times are a one-of-a-kind Muse pilot program. During Tea Times, veteran actresses discuss their experiences building their careers. Emmy Award winning actress Erin Cherry and internationally acclaimed actress Sheetal Sheth were interviewed by actresses Kyra Miller and Zainab Musa. A q&a with attendees and tea (and cookies!) and networking followed. This event was open to all, and it was also a special opportunity for women actors to network with Ms. Cherry & Ms. Sheth, each other, and to seek insight and support. This event took place at Torn Page (435 W 22nd St, New York) - the historic home of Rip Torn and Geraldine Page.

what did The Muse Project do in 2018?
Musings.
The core program of The Muse Project is the Mini Muse workshop - actresses are given space, resources, and artistic collaborators in order to create and publicly present the first iterations of a theatrical piece. These works can encompass a very wide array of performance.
It's incredible what even a Mini Muse workshop can do.
-Ian Morgan, director
The Muse Project, in association with The Tank, presented Musings: a collection of Mini Muse presentations at The Flea Theater as a part of our Anchor Partnership. Musings showcased the exciting, fresh, paradigm-shifting storytelling that New York's leading actresses developed through intensive Mini Muse workshops.
Vanessa Aspillaga presented from a piece that incorporates music and her visual art, a creative memoir of sorts - with collaborator José Zayas; Lynn Cohen presented from a piece that reimagined Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz - with collaborators Lewis Black, Ronald Cohen, and Ian Morgan; Jessica Frances Dukes presented from her first solo show exploring a complex familial lineage of race, class, and identity in America - with collaborators Taylor Barfield and Seret Scott. Déa Julien presented from a piece that tells the story of a young Syrian refugee and her relationship to the wealthy American woman who sponsors her for a year - with collaborators Kylie Brown, Caroline Hewitt, & Megan Sandberg-Zakian of Maia Directors; and Kyra Miller presented from a new piece exploring puppetry, Gaslight, and Bluebeard - with collaborators Noel Allain and Katie Pearl. Actresses Chelsea Dee and Zainab Musa were 2018 Muse alternates.
The Muse Project also presented an inaugural Tea Time event and a Mini Gala at The Flea Theater. Tea Times are a one-of-a-kind Muse pilot program - an opportunity for attendees to network & to become more acquainted with the life-and-times of a singular stage actress. A veteran stage actress opens the event with stories about her experiences building her career. In 2018, actress Florencia Lozano, was our Tea Time host. The Mini Gala is a small, tailored intimate gala event, where guests had the opportunity to mingle with the Muses and other special guests at The Flea.
