mini muses.
our core program!
The core program of The Muse Project is the Mini Muse workshop. Mini Muses are the first step for the actor in creating a new piece of work. They are given space, resources, and artistic collaborators in order to create and publicly present the first kernels of a new piece. These pieces can encompass a very wide array of performance.
All workshops are free to the public, but require an RSVP, as seating is limited.

It's incredible what even a Mini Muse workshop can do.

here are our 2017 muses:
Jessica Frances Dukes.
The Muse Project would like to introduce Jessica Frances Dukes. Having always been fascinated with ancestry and moments of the past, Jessica has chosen to trace her familial lineage. In the beginning, there was no doubt in her mind that her family was previously enslaved in America. What she was not prepared to discover, however, was that one of her maternal ancestors was also a slave-owner. Stories from her immediate and extended family members - as well as a few of her own - have inspired her script, and now she has decided to theatricalize them and create her first solo show. The Muse Project is lucky enough to have the opportunity to continue developing this important piece and present it at a time when cultural history is an immediate and pressing social uncertainty and question.

Déa Julien.
Actor Déa Julien explores a new piece, that she both performs in and creates, about the relationship between an older American woman and the young Syrian refugee whom the woman privately sponsors for a year. How do you navigate the delicate balance of becoming immediately, intimately involved in a stranger’s life? How do you come together to create a family, and then let it go?
